Thailand Weather 4 October 2026: Heavy Rain in 32 Provinces, Including Krabi
Heavy rain is forecast in 32 provinces today, with the North, Northeast and South hit hardest. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) expects scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain along the west coast of the South, which covers Krabi and so Koh Lanta. Seas in the Andaman are rougher than elsewhere, with waves above 2 m near thunderstorms. More heavy rain may return around 8 to 13 October, so check the forecast again before booking tours or transfers.
What is causing the rain
A high-pressure system from China is moving over the upper Northeast. It is bringing thundershowers, gusty wind and lightning to the upper part of the country. The same system is linked to isolated heavy rain in the lower South. Authorities warn of flash floods and accumulated rain in low-lying areas near waterways and foothills.

Koh Lanta and the west coast of the South
Krabi is on the TMD's west-coast list for scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Expect lows of 23-26°C and highs of 31-34°C. The other provinces on the list are Phang Nga, Phuket, Trang and Satun.
Northwest winds of 15-30 km/h make the Andaman rougher than other areas. Waves are about 1 m normally, but over 2 m near thunderstorms. Boat trips and island-hopping may be affected or cancelled, and the TMD advises ships to keep clear of storm cells.
On the east coast of the South, covering Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat, waves are 1-2 m, and above 2 m in thundershowers. The Gulf side of the East sees the same.
Official warnings
- Avoid open areas, large trees and unstable billboards.
- Residents near waterways and foothills should watch for flash floods, overflows and landslides.
- Ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should keep clear of thundershowers.

One discrepancy: a sidebar headline on the source page mentions prolonged rain for central Thailand from 11 to 14 October, while the article body says 8 to 13 October. The two don't match.
