Bangkok flooding has forced six airlines to roll out special assistance for passengers flying between September 26 and 29, 2026, with disruptions hitting both Don Mueang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Some travellers reportedly missed flights because of the flooding and resulting traffic, and each airline has set its own conditions for rebooking or refunds. If you're flying through Bangkok this week, here's what each airline is offering and what you need to do about it.
Which airlines are helping
Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia (and Thai AirAsia X), Nok Air, Thai Vietjet, and Thai Lion Air have all introduced measures for passengers affected by the flooding and traffic disruption around Bangkok's two main airports. The terms differ airline by airline, so it's worth checking the specific policy for whichever one you're flying with.
Airline by airline
| Airline | What's offered | Conditions / deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Thai Airways | Fee waived for one date change; full refund for cancelled flights | Same route, same fare class |
| Bangkok Airways | One free date change | Must stay on original route; new travel date must be completed by October 10, 2026 |
| Thai AirAsia / Thai AirAsia X | One free date change, or credit | New flight same route, within 7 days of original date, subject to availability. Credit alternative valid 2 years |
| Nok Air | One free change (no fee/fare difference) within 30 days, or a voucher for full booking value valid 30 days | Covers passengers departing Don Mueang, including those who missed flights on September 26. Passengers must contact Nok Air directly (call centre 1318, website, or ticket offices), they are not automatically rebooked |
| Thai Vietjet | One free same-route change, or credit | Travel must complete within 7 days of original date, subject to availability. Credit alternative valid 180 days |
| Thai Lion Air | Credit retained 30 days; can reschedule without fee within 30 days | For passengers unable to board flights September 26-28. Fare difference may apply for weekend/public holiday travel |
What this means for you
If you have a flight with one of these six airlines between September 26-29 (or September 26-28 for Thai Lion Air), you can likely rebook or get credit without the usual change fees, but you need to act. Several airlines, Nok Air in particular, will not rebook you automatically: you have to reach out yourself.
Deadlines also vary a lot between airlines. Bangkok Airways wants your new travel completed by October 10, others give you 7, 30, or 180 days depending on the carrier, so don't assume the same flexibility applies across the board. Check the specific terms for your airline as soon as possible.
Before you head to the airport
Regardless of whether you're rebooking, airlines are advising:
- Allow an extra 2-3 hours for your airport journey because of flooding and traffic
- Check your flight status before leaving for the airport
- Contact your airline directly if you need to change a booking
